Knock, Knock. Who’s there? Santa and the Starfish Story! | Avalon Hearing Aid Centers

Dear Avalon family,

How I wish that you could have been part of our 12 Days of Christmas Hearing Mission!

This year, again, we partnered with the Lions Clubs in Northern California through our HOPE and HEARING Program.  Together, we identified twelve people in the community who were struggling with their hearing and their finances. They were all gifted with better hearing and connection, Avalon’s ALWAYSCare Program and a good dose of HOPE!

Without you, our client, none of this would be possible!

The truth is that you were part of our 14th annual Hearing Mission. Would you be willing to open this video and watch me welcoming everyone.  And most importantly, THANKING YOU for choosing Avalon! The recipients applauded you for choosing Avalon and for helping to make our mission work in the community possible! Please take it personally!

You are never too young for hearing aids!

Our youngest recipient was an 18-year old student in his last year of high school. Parker wore hearing aids as a young child but by the time he reached his teens, he took them off and has lived without hearing help for several years. We fit Parker with Bluetooth compatible hearing aids that are quite inconspicuous, nothing like the clunky aids he wore as a child. Parker now thinks that hearing aids are cool!

And you are never too old for hearing aids!

We have been caring for Barbara and her hearing for over 22 years. Her hearing aids were old and no longer worked for her. She is now 109 years old. 109!!!

I said to Barbara, “Your money is running out so we wanted to help you hear better and reconnect to people in your life.” To which she replied, “No, dear, my money is not running out. It has run out!!!” Barbara got so excited to hear more clearly and be part of the conversation.

She is an amazing woman who makes a difference in her family, and in her church and retirement communities. Her new hearing aids (or connection machines) will help keep her connected.

By the way, Parker had a great conversation with Barbara. Let’s peak in on their conversation!

Wishing you much peace, connection and hope during this Holiday Season!

Here’s a copy of The Starfish Story for you. And should you come across a starfish, would you please toss it back into the ocean … the ocean of human kindness and connection? You never know when you can make a difference in someone’s life!

Thank you for being in our lives and being part of the Avalon Family!

The Starfish Story

One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed a boy picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean. Approaching the boy, he asked, “What are you doing?”

The youth replied, “Throwing starfish back into the ocean. The surf is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them back, they’ll die in the hot sun.

“Son,” said the man, “don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish? You can’t possibly make a difference!”

After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish, and threw it back into the surf. Then, smiling at the man, he said, “But I made a difference for that one!”
