Does your Heart Tank need filling? | Avalon Hearing Aid Centers
Dear Avalon family,

It was my birthday weekend. What I realized is that my Heart Tank needed replenishing.

Then, serendipity stepped in
My sister, Connie, (my heart sister – she was born on Valentine’s Day, and our hearts are deeply connected) reposted this story on her Facebook page.  It was originally posted by a woman named Jennifer Lemcke. I don’t know her, but I can relate to her precious story.

My hope is that this story will touch you and inspire you to reach out, adding needed energy to your Heart Tank.

The Story
The whole world paused this morning.

Do you know why? Because a 6-year old’s tank was empty.

The boys had already started their school day at their desks (pandemic learning) and I was preparing to leave for work when I noticed my littlest standing in the bathroom, wiping his face.
I paused at the door and asked if he was okay. He looked up with tears silently dripping and shook his head. When I questioned if something happened, again, he shook his head.

So, I sat on the side of the tub and pulled him onto my lap. I told him that sometimes our Heart Tanks feel empty and need to be refilled.

He cried into my chest, and I held him tightly.

I asked if he could feel my love filling him up?

A nod, and tears stopped…

I waited a minute…
“Has it reached your toes yet?”

He shook his head, NO…

“Okay then. We will take as long as you need. Work doesn’t matter right now. School isn’t important either. This, right here, is the most important thing today, okay? Filling you back to the top. Is that good?”

He nodded.

One more minute…
“Is your heart full of mama’s love, now?”

“Yeah…”

I look into his eyes and say, “I see it shine in there, you’re full to the top, and you’re smiling!”

You may not be 6 – you may be 36, 56, 86, or whatever – but ALL OF US run on empty just like that little boy did. His week was so busy and so full, and his little soul was just dry.

We all benefit when we pause to replenish our Heart Tank with whatever fills us
Hugs, prayer, sunshine, laughter, family, a conversation with a friend. A touch, kind words, patting a pet, taking a nap. CONNECTION of any kind.

Refill your empty tank, or you’ll find emotions like anger, resentment, annoyance, impatience, or tears of sadness, resignation, or despair overflowing for no particular reason at all.

Take a moment. Take an hour. Take a day. Take a weekend. But tap into whatever fills you. Refill. It’s an essential part of living CONNECTED.

Yours for CONNECTED Hearing & Living,
